# Aider

> Get notified when Aider finishes a response and waits for input. Configure notifications-command in .aider.conf.yml to send to Slack, Telegram, or SMS.

[Aider](https://aider.chat/docs/usage/notifications.html) can run a command when the LLM has finished responding and is waiting for your input. The command receives no event data, so the notification text is fixed.

## Command line

```bash
aider --notifications --notifications-command "curl -fsS --max-time 5 -X POST https://app.alphorn.dev/n/V1StGXR8_Z5jdHi6B-myT \
  -H 'Authorization: Bearer $ALPHORN_API_KEY' \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{\"title\": \"Aider - waiting\", \"message\": \"Aider needs your input\", \"priority\": 3, \"tags\": [\"ai-agent\", \"aider\", \"waiting\"]}'"
```

## Config file

```yaml title=".aider.conf.yml"
notifications: true
notifications-command: >-
  curl -fsS --max-time 5 -X POST https://app.alphorn.dev/n/V1StGXR8_Z5jdHi6B-myT
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ALPHORN_API_KEY"
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json'
  -d '{"title": "Aider - waiting", "message": "Aider needs your input", "priority": 3, "tags": ["ai-agent", "aider", "waiting"]}'
```

Both settings are required: without `notifications: true`, the command never runs. Aider waits for the command to finish, so keep `--max-time` short.

See [AI Agent Notifications](/ai-agents) for routing conventions.
